This is the Deschutes I Version 2 (V2) in Gun Smoke. It was hard to improve on our best-selling line of Deschutes fly reels but we did, by adding the "Quick Change" retreive system to our Deschutes line of reels, to create the new Version 2 reel.  We also changed the reel color to a more subdued "Gun Smoke" color.  The volume of sales on our Deschutes I reel has been phenominal and despite the "bullet-proof" design, we feel we have improved the new Deschutes I V2 fly reel. As you know, the Deschutes was our first fly reel. Over the course of 4 years and numerous design changes and improvements in all our fly reels, we felt that our best selling fly reel should get an upgrade. We improved the new Deschutes I V2 by placing the one-way bearing in the spool housing and taking it off the reel spindle on the frame. This allows for quick retreive change by simpling unscrewing the cap that holds the bearing in the spool, popping the one-way bearing out, turning the bearing over and re-inserting it into the spool and screwing the bearing cap back on. This change precludes the need to remove the one-way bearing "C" ring from the shaft of the frame and simplifies the retreive change. We hope this modernization effort meets with your satisfaction as we have been complimented on this same technology change in our 3rd Generation Green and Fire Hole reels and our newest 4th Generation Snake fly reels. The specifications on the Deschutes I V2 are the same as the original Deschutes I.  The Deschutes I V2 is also a precision machined aluminum reel for 3 and 4 weight lines. These reels are crafted from the finest solid block T6061 aircraft aluminum. The new Deschutes I V2 only comes in one finish right now: Gun Smoke. The reel features include: complete corrosion resistance, low-maintenance enclosed disc drag, one-way roller bearing, easy drag adjustment, counter-balanced spool, mid arbor design, quick change design for right/left-hand retrieve with our unique Silent Retrieve System and a high-precision machine cut body. You will not find a better value in a fly reel at twice the price. The reel comes with a Full Limited Warranty and a custom-fitted, black denier reel pouch embroidered with the FFB logo. The Deschutes I V2 Spool Diameter is 2.913 inches. The Arbor Size is 1.456 inches. The Spool Width is 0.866 inches. The reel weight is 4.938 ounces and the cubic volume of the reel is a mere 4.332 cubic inches. The Deschutes I Generation 2 Fly Reel will hold approximately 30-40 yards of 20-pound braided backing, 40-50-yards of 10-pound braided fly line backing loaded by hand and 60-70 yards of gelspun or 10-pound backing loaded by the "Reel-E-Good" winder.

You can add a spare spool to this reel as a package purchase for $25 and save an additional $15 if you order the spool and reel at the same time.  Otherwise, the spool is $40 if purchased separately.
