The Rapidan is a unique new reel available in 2009. It is both a die-cast and CNC machine-cut fly reel. The Rapidan is a single size entry-level reel built for weights 3/4/5 and will have a retail price of $39.95.  Or, you can purchase the reel with a reel case for an additional $5 from the drop-down menu. The Rapidan is a far more sophisticated than our entry level Madison fly reel but yet, less expensive than our best-selling Deschutes line.  This is the perfect back-up fly reel.  The reel has an outer diameter of 3.39 inches, an inner diameter of 1.57 inches, a spool width of 1.30 inches, and it weighs 4.82 ounces.  After an actual test on the "Reel-E-Good" Winder, the Rapidan held 100 yards of 20-pound backing with 5-weight fly line.  So, that being said, there is plenty of backing capacity with 20-pound backing and a 5-weight fly line, meaning a little more backing would go on with 4-weight fly line and a little less with a 6-weight fly line.  If you chose 10-pound backing, you could even put more backing on the reel!  The reels are here now and ready to ship out!
